Review: Canopy Garden Dining & Bar

There’s a hidden gem that’s very near my house but it seems like I haven’t visit it enough. Operated by the Asmara Lifestyle Group, the Canopy Garden Dining & Bar is among one of the lifestyle concepts that are located at the serene Bishan Park. The part where it’s at sits conveniently between Ang Mo Kio and Bishan MRT station, so I’d consider it really accessible.

Just take note that there isn’t ample parking (though there is a carpark near where the cafe is).

I’ve visited the Aramsa Spa before and really love how it managed to turn an urban residential surrounding to a garden paradise. The Canopy Garden Dining & Bar is no different.

Sitting at the alfresco area, I can’t remember I’m just a five-minute drive away from my home near the Yio Chu Kang MRT.

They have an indoor area but if the weather is good, I urge you to sit outside to enjoy the sun and lush surroundings.

I tend to order either Eggs Benedict or Eggs Royale every time I visit a new brunch place. Partly because I enjoy the dish, but also because I want to do a little comparison.

And this time, I ordered the Eggs Royale (S$13), which is served with a little salad.

After at least 10 Eggs Royale at 10 different places, I’d probably place this one right in the centre of the rankings. I had definitely enjoyed it, but it’s not one that’s memorable enough for me. In case you’re wondering, the best I had has got to be the one at Prive, Keppel Bay.

One plus point for the one at Canopy Garden Dining & Bar is that it’s really affordable compared to what most other cafes offer.

The Fiance went for the Mushroom Burger (S$14) that features a yummy portobello. I’m usually not a big fan of burgers but this was done really well such that I would consider ordering this at my next visit. The mix of sauce may be slightly salty for some, but I find it rather savoury. It also helps that I really love rocket, which is scattered on top of the mushroom.

The fries are nothing to shout about, but definitely make for great after-main-course munchies.

For dessert, we went for the Apple Crumble (S$12).

You can tell how much we love it by the photos we’ve taken. It ended our brunch very well – the crumble were crispy and fragrant, the apples were not-too-sweet and very pleasing. It helps that the plating was pretty too.

Will I visit again?

Certainly. For the ambience and food, this is rather affordable. Also, since it’s so near to my place, I don’t see why I shouldn’t visit it more often. I should even consider a leisurely at the park after the meal, or even checking in at the spa to complete my weekend.
